This plastic quick disconnect has 1/2" male pipe threading on one side on which you can screw into 1/2" female pipe threading. The other side is the male quick disconnect and snaps into the matching . 

These disconnects are great for an all-grain brewing system in which you need to change where something is flowing. Especially useful in systems with a pump.
